Press splitter July 14th 2006
The current issue of the Hanse-Sail-Magazine is published just now
The “Hanse-Sail-Magazin aktuell“ on the occasion of the 16th Hanse Sail Rostock is available now. The brochure that is still hot off the presses is more comprehensive than the year before. It combines current event plans, maps and need-to-knows around the big maritime celebration in Rostock. On good 100 pages Sail-visitors will find plenty of important information. All event programs in the city harbour, in Warnemünde and in the Segelstadion are presented here. Portraits of interesting ships are to find in word and vision: the GORCH FOCK as the flagship of the 16th Hanse Sail stands beside two greenhorns, the Swedish brig GERDA or the Chinese junk KUBLAI’S KAHN II. The magazine will inform about cultural highlights, exhibitions and artists, but also about all the many helpers who make a great experience of the bonny ships’ celebration.
With immediate effect, the “Hanse-Sail-Magazin aktuell” is available in magazine shops, in the souvenir shop of the Sail and in petrol stations at the price of 4 Euro.
Sailing and steaming – not all seats are taken in front of the mast
Not all seats are taken on board of cogs and clipper ships, schooners and brigs, galleasses and gaff cutters or on a classic yacht in front of the mast and astern. On more than 60 “Sail-ships” guests of the 16th Hanse Sail Rostock can book a sail adventure on the Baltic Sea. All four days of the event (from August 10th to 13th) guests can decide on day or evening sailing trips on sailing vessels from the Netherlands, Sweden, Russia or Germany. You may also sail close to the wind with such traditional sailing vessels like the ANTIGUA, LILLEHOLM, the Russian frigate SHTANDART or the brig APHRODITE. Who prefer snugly steaming and shipping can also cruise on the steam icebreaker STETTIN, the former fire ship FEHMARNBELT or on the precious Russian admiralty ship DARGAST.
Booking is possible via the Tall-Ship booking centre in the city harbour, Warnowufer 65, Tel. + 49 (0)381 208 52-26/-61 or + 49 (0)1805 94 63 52 and via E-Mail tallshipbooking@t-online.de. Here you can also book flights in sea planes, balloons or helicopters.
From July 19th from 10 am to 5 pm a Tall-Ship-Hotline under the phone number +49 (0)381 403 12 66 is equipped. Caller will get information about the 16th Hanse Sail, details on ships, mooring, events and parking possibilities.
Five classic freighters of the time of the Hanseatic League at the cogs meeting in Wismar and Rostock
On the occasion of the 16th Hanse Sail a Hanseatic freighters meeting will take place for the first time. At first the replicas of the German Hanseatic cogs UBENA v. BREMEN, KIELER KOGGE and ROLAND v. BREMEN will be expected in Wismar. They all were geared to the cog of 1380 that was discovered in the mouth of the river Weser in 1962. The hulk LISA v. LÜBECK visits the city on August 8th, as well, in order to meet the just finished youngest cog sister WISSEMARA, which is also the biggest one of the five ships. The meeting in the World Heritage city is organised by Hansekontor Wismar, the city council and the development association „Poeler Kogge“ e.V. On August 9th the five cogs jointly start for the 16th Hanse Sail Rostock to meet four impressive cruise liners there in the evening. The Navy’s music corps Kiel and a gun salute will welcome the cogs in Rostock. At the same time the 5th “Rostock Port Party” celebrates the sailing of the floating hotels AMSTERDAM, THOMSEN CELEBRATION, BRAEMAR and OCEAN MAJESTY at the passenger quay in Warnemünde.
Five cogs at the 16th Hanse Sail – that is a special highlight of maritime and hanseatic cultivating. The cogs ROLAND v. BREMEN and WISSEMARA will take part in the Hanse Sail for the first time.
Buskers with bow tie in the anniversary concert
Twenty years Dixieland from Rostock: The „Breitling Stompers“ will give their anniversary concert on Saturday (August 12th) at 4.00 pm on the Hanse-Sail-stage in the city harbour. At one time a venturesome idea of bandleader Detlef Pielucha, the pub “Diexieland bei Risse” at Doberaner Platz now became a superb musical business card of the Hanseatic City. The „Breitling Stompers“ are the best formation of jolly buskers in our federal state – and they are always neat to look at: dark suits and bow ties are classified as paragraph 1 of the dress code of the professional musicians. Since 15 years the „Breitling Stompers“ has accompanied the Hanse Sail with the help of their performances, whether on board of a ship, on business sailing trips or on stages of the Hanse Sail. There were also present, as the big maritime celebration in Rostock presented itself at home and abroad.
